With this year’s Spokane International Film Festival (SpIFF) fast approaching, we’re joined this week by one of its dedicated coordinators, Aaron Spickelmire, to get a preview of what’s on the schedule.
The three-day (Mar. 6 to 8, 2026) festival includes over one dozen feature films plus live interviews and blocks of themed programming like Worlds of Animation, Queer Shorts, Best of the Northwest and the new Docs and Donuts series.
Aaron talks about some of this year’s special premieres and events, which involve Train Dreams, locally made films, a rich slate of Indigenous films and animated shorts with Oscar nods.
While highlighting some of the individual movies in this year’s lineup, Aaron also discusses how SpIFF’s programming looks to build community around cinema.
