We’re back in the Rogue Heart Media studio this week to revisit with Imagine Jazz. But this time, we’re talking to musician Brendan McMurphy.
In honor of Jazz Appreciation Month, Imagine Jazz is hosting an International Jazz Day Celebration at the Spokane Public Library‘s downtown location on April 30, 2026.
It’s a full day of free concerts featuring ensembles like Kristina Ploeger Quintet, the Brent Edstrom Trio and The Glass Bead Orchestra plus up-and-coming musicians.
Brendan delves into the details of the event as well as the state of the local jazz scene, the unique language of jazz and why jazz education for the next generation of musicians should extend beyond the classroom.
NB: You can catch the previous Imagine Jazz interview with Brendan’s wife, Rachel Bade-McMurphy, here.
