Steve Grime, a recent graduate of Eastern Washington University, had by his own admission an “atypical” route to his BFA.

On this week’s episode, Steve talks about why he chose to pursue a fine arts degree after his retirement from a nearly three-decade career in the US Air Force as both a mechanic and a pilot.

Steve also offers some background on his work in graphic design, sculpture, oil painting and printmaking.

Some of that work was featured in “Signposts of the Malevolent State,” his name for the collection of his pieces that were part of EWU’s 2026 BFA Senior Exhibition, titled Pressure Points, which included five other graduating artists.

During the Lightning Round, Steve muses on a third career as a wrestler and ranks his favorite forms of potato.
